Description
CAMP EDWARDS Two civilian construction workers renovating a vacant barracks were injured today when a cement ceiling collapsed on them, according to Massachusetts National Guard officials. The two men were working in a first floor bathroom of barracks 5242 at 9:22 am when a portion of the 1-inch-thick ceiling caved in on them, said Army Lt. Col. Richard Bertone, deputy base commander. The workers were in the process of dismantling a suspended concrete lath. Bertone said one man suffered non-life threatening injuries to his knee and back, while the other sustained a serious but non-life threatening head injury.
